Ayo Space City, H-town, Bayou City, HOU, how the heck is it hangin’?

For those unaware of the many nicknames of Houston, I am in fact talking about the biggest city in all of Texas.

That’s right, the Lonestar state’s cradle of life is the city that demands the attention of this article and this dating coach.

With over 2 million inhabitants, Houston is one of the biggest cities in the US and as such is a hive of romantic activity.

But just because you live in a dynamic city that has a vibrant dating scene doesn’t mean every man in the city has date plans this Friday.

I suppose that’s why you’re here.

You’re here because you want a little of the flavor that H-town has to offer.

I hear you loud and clear.

That’s why in this article we’ll detail the best dating coach in Houston (cough cough, us) and talk about dating life in Houston.

Houston’s Gender Ratio

When assessing the dating scene in any town, the first variable in question is the gender ratio.

It’s awesome if every woman in town is a 10 but if there are only 10 women in the entire city you’re in a bit of trouble.

Houston’s gender ratio is near dead even.

With about 2 million inhabitants, there are 975,551 men and 978,000 women.

But before you start cheering about how little of a gender gap there is, there is something to consider.

Houston is a fairly large city, one that takes quite a while if traversed in its entirety. This means that ideally there are women close to your area that are available.

This may be the case in various neighborhoods, but certainly not downtown Houston.

A recent city survey found that there are 298 men for every 100 women living in downtown Houston. Downtown is the most coveted place to live in Houston, also making it the most expensive. Houston more so than other major cities has a substantial gender wage gap. In Houston, there is a 35-percent gender wage gap.

If you’re a dude in downtown, you might have trouble finding a woman in your area. That being said, with a gender disparity in downtown, women are in abundance in other areas of the city.

If you’re moving to Houston consider neighborhoods such as Montrose or Museum Park.

Date Ideas In Houston

While you may feel like you’re well away from scoring a date, that won’t be the case for long.

With the help of your Houston dating coach, you’ll soon be awash in dates.

That being the case, you’ll need to figure out where to go on dates.

At emlovz we strongly advise that first dates are both short (no more than one hour) and cheap ($10 or less).

A first date in Houston that satisfies this criterion looks like getting happy hour drinks with you and your dogs at the pet-friendly Monkey’s Trail. If you two are up for an adrenaline-rushing first date why not take a bike tour. The White Oak Bayou Greenway and the Heights Hike and Bike trail are just two options. First dates should take place midweek and ideally before the sun goes down.

For a second date you’ll want to keep things active and free. I recommend second dates adhere to these guidelines in order to weed out gold diggers or women that just want to date you for a free dinner. If she’s up for a second date that doesn’t include being dazzled by Houston’s finest cuisine she might be a keeper.

With this in mind why not kayak Buffalo Bayou or go on a walking tour?

Once she’s made it all the way to a third date it’s time to make it rain.

The time and monetary restrictions have finally been lifted. Third dates should be at night and close to your apartment. I say this because it’s reasonable to expect that by the third date you’ll be getting some.

Brenner’s Steakhouse is literally on the bayou. Such a sweet setup will indicate that you’re serious about her. Perhaps follow your outing to Brenner’s up with a trip to watch a show at Match.

If you two are super into each other, why not consider a horse ride in Galveston? That’s right, enjoy an hour-long ride at sunset on the beach of Galveston.

Weather In Houston

Houston romances have a way of being accelerated.

When the threat of a hurricane is always on the horizon, death and despair never seem too far away, especially during hurricane season.

If you live in Houston long enough you may find yourself boarded up and ensconced in the arms of a woman you only recently started dating.

If it isn’t a hurricane that accelerates your bond it might just be the fickle weather that does so. Houston is notorious for its swiftly changing weather patterns.

That being said, according to the Washington Post, Houston sees 54 “nice days” of weather a year. A nice day is considered one that has a:

• High temperature between 65 and 85 degrees
• Maximum dew point temperature less than or equal to 65 degrees
• Peak daily wind (including gusts) less than 25 mph
• Average daily cloud cover less than or equal to 65 percent
• No measurable precipitation

Expect Houston to literally rain — or torrential downpour — on at least one of your dates in any given month. Always have a backup plan so you can quickly call an audible should an apocalyptic storm start brewing overhead.

A Brief Word On Dating Apps

Dating apps are those things that you’re either fed up with or never used to begin with.

Look even in a gender-even city like Houston guys struggle to date women they meet on apps.

That’s mainly because dating apps aren’t actually used for love. A LendEDU study found that 44% of Tinder users use the app for confidence-boosting reasons. Just 4% of college-aged millennials polled reported using it to meet a long-term partner.

Not only this but dating apps are straight sausage fests. “Hookup apps” like Tinder and even their feminist counterparts Bumble are heavily dominated by dudes.
