There’s nothing like dating in the desert.

Scottsdale Arizona is an awkwardly shaped city in a fairly awkward position.

This arm of Phoenix is often mistaken for just another Phoenix neighborhood.

If examined as a stand-alone city, it’s a cute place to live, characterized by its desert, forest, and rather small population of 233,000 or so inhabitants.

But if we zoom out we see that Scottsdale is just one city that makes up a metro area home to almost 5 million people.

As just one of the many playgrounds in the Phoenix metro area, Scottsdale has come to be known for its golf courses, resorts, and hiking. While Scottsdale has a lot to offer, ample dating opportunity isn’t known to be one of them.

I suppose that’s why you’re on the prowl for a Scottsdale dating coach? As far as Arizona dating coaches go, I know the perfect one to help you find a date or two, in the middle of the desert.

But before we dive into the best Scottsdale dating coach, let’s take a look at the city itself.

The Best Scottsdale Dating Coach, But First…

Gender Breakdown

Let’s face it, if the city you lived in was utter garbage, but the gender ratio tilted your way, it’d be a great city for single men.

What creates an amazing dating atmosphere is the gender ratio. Of Scottsdale’s approximately 255,000 residents, about half are women. While an even split won’t leave you jumping for joy imagine if you lived in places like San Jose or Vegas where there are 15-20% more males than females.

Sausage fests were tolerated in college — be honest Stella as the only woman you needed — but not anymore.

Nowadays, you’re looking to settle down. Luckily, Scottsdale is the perfect place to do that… kind of.

Scottsdale is seen as the place where families move to once they’ve outgrown Phoenix. That means that most women in the area are older and possibly taken. 50% of the women in Scottsdale are between the ages of 30-39. But this doesn’t tell the whole story.

The median age in Scottsdale is 46. To put that into context the national average is 37. Scottsdale’s population is getting on in years. With 57% of adult women in the area already married, you may not have a whole lot of single women to work with.

If you’re an older guy, great.

However, if you’re looking for younger women only 16% of the Scottsdale population is home to women between the ages of 25 and 29.

That being said, considering Scottsdale borders Phoenix it’s only reasonable to assume that you won’t merely be dating women within your city’s limits.

With a metro area of 4,857,000 residents, there are plenty of women to choose from in the area — as long as you’re willing to drive. The gender breakdown is nearly split down the middle but with just a few more women than men in the metro area.

If you’re willing to look just outside the city that is Scottsdale, you’ll find an oasis of single women ready to mingle.

One of the best ways to meet women — regardless of age — is via a dating app. A recent Stanford study showed that 39% of new romantic relationships in 2017 started online. If you’re going to mine for dates on your own, you better start by downloading a dating app.

So which one is best suited for the Scottsdale area?

Tinder

As the most popular dating app in the state, it’s only natural that you’d download Tinder. While Tinder’s main user demographic is made up of youngins, its sheer volume of users merits a download and a swipe or two.

Bumble

Seeing as how Scottsdale residents are on the older side, it makes sense that you’d download an app that caters to an older audience. Billed as “feminist Tinder,” Bumble attracts users that have graduated from Tinder and desire a longer-lasting relationship. The two apps look and feel the same. The biggest difference is the type of user.

Hinge

My clients have always given me good reviews about Hinge. This is probably because Hinge genuinely cares about finding you a partner. Whereas other dating apps are designed to keep you single forever, Hinge uses disparate features that really help you find a compatible match.

Once your Arizona dating coach has set you up, where are you supposed to go?

Despite being located in a part of the country that can be mistaken for the set of a post-apocalyptic movie, Scottsdale offers quite a few date options.

First dates should be brief, cheap, and ideally outdoors and during the day. I urge all single dudes to abide by this advice for a few reasons. The most important being, you’re going out with a total stranger! Why would you want to treat someone you might never see again to a three-course meal?

First dates should be designed as introductory meetings. They should last no longer than about an hour. Abiding by these guidelines is easy if you’re a sporty person. Just throw on some kicks, slime on the sunscreen, and hit up one of the many trails Scottsdale offers.

Second dates should be active, a bit longer than first dates, and absolutely free. If you’re struggling to brainstorm second date ideas that meet these criteria, don’t worry, I have a solution. You and your lady can take a kayak ride down the Lower Salt River. If you don’t have a kayak you can always rent one here. Other free — or nearly free — date ideas include: hiking the Sonoran desert, strolling through the botanical garden, meandering through various Scottsdale art galleries in the city’s art district, or of course, hit the world-famous (kind of) Rodeo Museum.

Once she’s made it to the third date it’s time to take the training wheels off. Now it’s time to spend big and take her on an unforgettable date that really shows her how into her you are. Ayo Space City, H-town, Bayou City, HOU, how the heck is it hangin’?

For those unaware of the many nicknames of Houston, I am in fact talking about the biggest city in all of Texas.

That’s right, the Lonestar state’s cradle of life is the city that demands the attention of this article and this dating coach.

With over 2 million inhabitants, Houston is one of the biggest cities in the US and as such is a hive of romantic activity.

But just because you live in a dynamic city that has a vibrant dating scene doesn’t mean every man in the city has date plans this Friday.

I suppose that’s why you’re here.

You’re here because you want a little of the flavor that H-town has to offer.

I hear you loud and clear.

That’s why in this article we’ll detail the best dating coach in Houston (cough cough, us) and talk about dating life in Houston.

Houston’s Gender Ratio

When assessing the dating scene in any town, the first variable in question is the gender ratio.

It’s awesome if every woman in town is a 10 but if there are only 10 women in the entire city you’re in a bit of trouble.

Houston’s gender ratio is near dead even.

With about 2 million inhabitants, there are 975,551 men and 978,000 women.

But before you start cheering about how little of a gender gap there is, there is something to consider.

Houston is a fairly large city, one that takes quite a while if traversed in its entirety. This means that ideally there are women close to your area that are available.

This may be the case in various neighborhoods, but certainly not downtown Houston.

A recent city survey found that there are 298 men for every 100 women living in downtown Houston. Downtown is the most coveted place to live in Houston, also making it the most expensive. Houston more so than other major cities has a substantial gender wage gap. In Houston, there is a 35-percent gender wage gap.

If you’re a dude in downtown, you might have trouble finding a woman in your area. That being said, with a gender disparity in downtown, women are in abundance in other areas of the city.

If you’re moving to Houston consider neighborhoods such as Montrose or Museum Park.

Date Ideas In Houston

While you may feel like you’re well away from scoring a date, that won’t be the case for long.

With the help of your Houston dating coach, you’ll soon be awash in dates.

That being the case, you’ll need to figure out where to go on dates.

At emlovz we strongly advise that first dates are both short (no more than one hour) and cheap ($10 or less).

A first date in Houston that satisfies this criterion looks like getting happy hour drinks with you and your dogs at the pet-friendly Monkey’s Trail. If you two are up for an adrenaline-rushing first date why not take a bike tour. The White Oak Bayou Greenway and the Heights Hike and Bike trail are just two options. First dates should take place midweek and ideally before the sun goes down.

For a second date you’ll want to keep things active and free. I recommend second dates adhere to these guidelines in order to weed out gold diggers or women that just want to date you for a free dinner. If she’s up for a second date that doesn’t include being dazzled by Houston’s finest cuisine she might be a keeper.

With this in mind why not kayak Buffalo Bayou or go on a walking tour?

Once she’s made it all the way to a third date it’s time to make it rain.

The time and monetary restrictions have finally been lifted. Third dates should be at night and close to your apartment. I say this because it’s reasonable to expect that by the third date you’ll be getting some.

Brenner’s Steakhouse is literally on the bayou. Such a sweet setup will indicate that you’re serious about her. Perhaps follow your outing to Brenner’s up with a trip to watch a show at Match.

If you two are super into each other, why not consider a horse ride in Galveston? That’s right, enjoy an hour-long ride at sunset on the beach of Galveston.

Weather In Houston

Houston romances have a way of being accelerated.

When the threat of a hurricane is always on the horizon, death and despair never seem too far away, especially during hurricane season.

If you live in Houston long enough you may find yourself boarded up and ensconced in the arms of a woman you only recently started dating.

If it isn’t a hurricane that accelerates your bond it might just be the fickle weather that does so. Houston is notorious for its swiftly changing weather patterns.

That being said, according to the Washington Post, Houston sees 54 “nice days” of weather a year. A nice day is considered one that has a:

• High temperature between 65 and 85 degrees
• Maximum dew point temperature less than or equal to 65 degrees
• Peak daily wind (including gusts) less than 25 mph
• Average daily cloud cover less than or equal to 65 percent
• No measurable precipitation

Expect Houston to literally rain — or torrential downpour — on at least one of your dates in any given month. Always have a backup plan so you can quickly call an audible should an apocalyptic storm start brewing overhead.

A Brief Word On Dating Apps

Dating apps are those things that you’re either fed up with or never used to begin with.

Look even in a gender-even city like Houston guys struggle to date women they meet on apps.

That’s mainly because dating apps aren’t actually used for love. A LendEDU study found that 44% of Tinder users use the app for confidence-boosting reasons. Just 4% of college-aged millennials polled reported using it to meet a long-term partner.

Not only this but dating apps are straight sausage fests. “Hookup apps” like Tinder and even their feminist counterparts Bumble are heavily dominated by dudes.
