Hoboken might just be the one place in NJ that New Yorkers would consider living.

But forget about those noisy neighbors for a second and for once let’s let NJ, specifically Hoboken steal the show.

Before the big reveal let’s chat about what dating in Hoboken is really like shall we?

It’s impossible to talk about what dating as a hetero man is like without talking gender ratios.

So how does Hoboken break down?

As you can see the gender ratio is just about split with 50.19% of the population female and 49.81% male.

The real good news though is that as you can see the majority of residents are between the ages of 20 and 40, with there actually being more females in that age range. That’s not so typical. What we normally find is that sure there are more females than males in a city but that’s because the females are just older and outlast the males. But here, the majority of residents are young and female.

Now that’s a sexy piece of data that even Sinatra would want to sing about.

But just because the numbers may be on your side doesn’t mean dating in Hoboken is easy.

Every city has its own dating culture, so what’s it like in Hoboken?

Out of the thousands of cities in the US Livability ranked Hoboken as the second best place to be single in the US. 

There are a few reasons for that.

Let’s list em’ out.

1) Half of the residents are single. Half are single, they’re all on dating apps, and as we’ve said half of the population is between the age of 21 and 35.

2) It’s the most popping city/neighborhood in the area. Hoboken is utterly popping. With more than 10 bars within a 12-block area, there is no shortage of places to meet singles. Not to mention as the main attraction people come from other areas to experience what Hoboken has to offer. You won’t have to take the PATH for NYC just to find a girlfriend (but it’s awesome that a 25m subway means you can).

3) If you live here you’re established. That’s great if you’re looking to settle down. Hoboken is the kind of place that you can’t live in without a decent job. A decent job means you’re financially ready to settle down. What we find is that the less economically stable the less likely you are to shack up and start a family. You’ll have no problem finding a smart, ambitious, and most likely liberal woman here.

Hoboken might not have the sex brand name appeal that Brooklyn or The Village has but according to the numbers it’s clearly an amazing place to be a single man.

But just because you live in a great city swarming by even more amazing women doesn’t necessarily mean it’s easy to be a single guy in Hoboken.
