Bumble might just be the least superficial of all the dating apps you have in your rotation.

Unlike other apps, Bumble gives users the option of expressing themselves in various ways from connecting their Spotify, to writing an about me, citing interests, and of course by answering Bumble prompts.

That’s what brings you here today.

You want to know how to leverage Bumble’s As a child, I was really into… Bumble Answer in order to match with more women.

To give you an idea of the answer women are looking for we’re going to give you nine response examples to inspire your Bumble Answer.

So what does a quality response to such a prompt look like?

When coming up with your answer try to take women on an emotional journey with your answer.

Hold their hand as you take them back in time to when you were a kid. Give her a solid glimpse of who you were as a child.

Also, consider how your answer might be a visualization exercise for her thoughts about having a kid with you. Sure visualization about having kids with you may seem a bit soon, but it depends on where she’s at in her life. If she wants to settle down and have a family it won’t be odd for her to imagine you as a father. Painting a picture of your own childhood gives her insight into the kind of upbringing you may want for your child.

I’d say the more serious you are about settling down, the more serious an answer you should provide. I normally like to keep Bumble Answer responses light and playful, but in this case, we can make an exception.

Now it’s time to help you connect with your next match!

1) Not Every Woman Wants Gold

I personally love this one (and not because it’s biographical).

I love the juxtaposition between something as gross and yet realistic as flicking boogies at girls as a child and the realization of how disgusting that was after the ellipsis. Had the Bumble Answer only contained the first portion of this response it would have been missing that extra something needed to convince her to swipe right.

It’s easy to write a gross or less-than-appealing response when talking about your childhood and what you were into as a kid. Just be sure to acknowledge the awkwardness or how youthful you were and that you’ve grown since then.

2) Show Her Your Romantic Side

This shows her that you were a mature child (apart from the whole wearing a cape at the wedding thing). Not many children dream of their future wedding, much less plan it out.

This is not only super adorable but indicates that you’re a serious guy looking to settle down into a LTR.

It’s not always easy to eloquently tell women what you’re looking for on dating apps. It’s true that on Bumble you can choose what you’re looking for in a relationship but most women will accidentally scroll past this.

Making it clear in your bio or via a prompt response will serve as a clear indication of the kind of relationship you’re seeking.

3) Who Wasn’t Though?

Paint her a picture of your youth.

Who were you, what music did you like, what hobbies did you have, were you happy, etc.?

These are all questions she has about you.

At this point in her life, you’re a complete stranger. Your job is to show her you’re 1) not a creep and 2) worth going out with.

The best way to do this is by painting a clear picture of who you were. What woman wouldn’t love the image of a little kid dancing and singing his heart out to Blink 182 into a mirror?

I also think that name-dropping bands you were into is an easy way to connect with women. Remember that with Bumble women are required to message first. However, if she can’t think of a decent opening message she may not message at all. Make things easier for her by giving her details about yourself that she can question and connect with. Chances are if she’s into the bands you just mentioned (or similar ones) she’ll comment on a simlar Bumble Answer.

4) Make Her LOL

Telling her about your upbringing also tells her about your life nowadays.

Chances are if you grew up taking summer sailing vacations and winter ski trips you still do something similar today. If she has similar interests chances are she may swipe right. This is also a subtle status symbol. Not everyone sailed and skied as a child. This tells her that you probably came from a stable and wealthy family and that chances are you’re financially and emotionally stable – or at least will be able to take her to a fancy dinner every once and a while.

5) A Romantic Ever Since He Was 5

When in doubt make her laugh!

It doesn’t matter if maybe she doesn’t know exactly who you are, your interests, hobbies, etc. If you can make a woman laugh that’s generally good enough to convince her finger to drag your profile to the right.

Remember that online dating shouldn’t be taken too seriously. At this stage, you’re just getting to know people. No need to talk about serious subjects until you two are dating IRL.

6) Natural Fireworks

Give her a glimpse into the younger you.

It doesn’t matter how whimsical you were. If you can show her an interesting wholesome version of your younger self, do so. Show her that you were a cute kid with a normal upbringing that turned into a normal, fun, and loving adult.

What’s great about this prompt response is the imagery. She can really see those fireflies lighting up the room and imagine you with your friends stretched out enjoying the fireflies and Halo soundtrack.

7) Segue Into The Now

Ideally telling her who you were gives her an indication of who you are.

That’s not always easy to convey.

One way to do so is by talking about how a childhood interest grew into an adult interest. In the instance above we see how memorizing capitals developed into a case of the travel bug. Women love a well-traveled man. If you’re big into travel also be sure to include a few pictures of you on your travels. A recent Hinge study found that users that post photos of their international travel adventures receive more likes than the average photo. 

What also worked about the response above is the desire to pull the reader into your life. Who wouldn’t want to travel to Malta? If she’s into the rest of your profile chances are she’ll respond to your prompt.

8) We Didn’t Start The Fire

It’s awesome to see when your childhood dreams become reality… at least kind of.

Did what you do or dream about as a child come to fruition? Did your childhood fantasy or hobby become a full-time job?

If so tell her about it. It’s easy to not give her a glimpse of who you are now with your Bumble prompt answer. This response does a great job of making it crystal clear who you are today and what your profession is.

9) LOL

As I’ve said before, when in doubt make her laugh, if you’re really in doubt make her LMAO.

Humor always wins.

Even if what you write isn’t 100% accurate, it doesn’t matter. So long as you’re not a compulsive liar, fudging the truth to score a match isn’t close to the worst thing anyone has done on a dating app. 

Prompts Aren’t Everything

It doesn’t matter if your dating prompt responses were written by Aziz Ansari himself. Not every woman is going to swipe right – and that’s just fine.

To give your prompt response the supplemental sex appeal it needs to convince a woman to take a chance on your, you’re going to have to accompany it with some pretty stellar photos.

Your photo roster is the most important thing about your profile.

Bumble allows for six photos and I recommend using all six slots.

But what kind of photos should you post?

First and foremost you need to make sure your first photo is a clear headshot. You must be smiling, not wearing anything that obscures your face and has a nice background.

Your second photo should be a full-body shot. You want her to have an idea of your body type and let her know beyond all doubt that you have two arms and legs.

Beyond that it’s up to you.

You can post GQ-style photos, sporty pics, pictures with dogs, travel shots, group shots, etc.
