They think they have the secrets that will make every woman that smells your pheromones fall for you Juliet style.

Listen up Romeo, not every dating coach out there has a special sauce.

Some will simply jump on a few Zoom calls, hurl a few tips your way, and ride off into the sunset with your money. If that’s a special sauce I think they’re using a bit too much BS.

To ascertain who talks the talk and walks the walk you have to dive into dating coach reviews.

Dating Coach Reviews: How To Spot A Fake

Before throwing a few thousand dollars at some random dating coach you found online check out their reviews. Know how they have helped (or not helped) previous clients.

The thing is, not all reviews are created equal.

Some are straight-up fake while others are embellished.

Let’s set the record straight and equip you with the discerning eye you need to identify real from fake dating coach reviews.

1) Make Sure The Coach Is Present

You expect to get ghosted by women, but never by your dating coach.

Some coaches are more present than others in online reviews.

Most (legit) coaches will have video reviews on their websites. 

Make sure the coach is on the zoom call with the student while giving the review. If not, the client could be anyone talking about anyone. The only surefire way to confirm they are who they say they are is if they’re having a conversation with a coach.

Buying fake reviews is super easy.

Entire companies like Reputation Stacker are designed to create super in-depth and authentic-looking reviews. For a new dating coach or for one who’s received few positive reviews, buying glowing fake reviews is an appealing option.

Use tools like Reputation to help spot fake reviews, or just follow the advice below.

2) Make Sure The Student Is Close To The Camera

Think back to the last time you were watching cable TV and saw an ad for medication… any medication.

Chances are there were shots of smiling 60-somethings playing with their grandkids spliced with interviews where they can’t stop smiling and talking about how life-changing this new medication is.

We don’t need the little “These are paid actors” line at the bottom of the video to let us know how fake the ad is.

There’s no way this one pill turned these people into the Hollywood happy people they appear to be on screen.

Look big pharma isn’t the only one using fakes to sell their products.

When browsing for a dating coach you’ll likely see videos of students talking 6 feet away from the camera. They’ll speak clearly, slowly, and always know exactly what they want to say.

That’s probably because like that poser Grandpa you saw on TV they’re reading from a script. They have rehearsed lines they’re spitting at you in the attempt to quickly articulate the dating coach’s biggest selling points.

You know they’re not reading from a teleprompter when the student is close to the camera and is looking into the camera. The conversation will be natural, organic, and will have plenty of filler words.

3) Evidence Of A Philosophy And How It’s Changed Their Life

Waxing poetic about a dating coach is one thing, but getting into the nitty gritty details of a coach’s philosophy and how it’s changed their life is the marrow prospective students want to see when assessing coaches.

It’s easy to say, “wow, Steve is an expert who really knows what he’s talking about” versus, “Steve’s philosophy of dating various women at the same time by tapping social circles has helped me find a girlfriend in just 8 weeks.”

When watching a testimonial or reading a review be mindful of the dating coach’s philosophy. Some coaches will improvise advice on the spot. Without knowing what works or not they’ll offer whatever advice feels right.

You want a coach who has bonafide advice that has worked for a ton of men. You want a philosophy you can be critical of and determine whether it aligns with your values and goals.

Secondly, is the student discussing how their life has changed?

Can they juxtapose a before the coach and after? If so what are the results?

4) Make sure the coach will ACTUALLY GIVE YOU TIME and SUPPORT

Too many coaches are coming out of the woodwork offering “courses” with little or no facetime with them.

They create a guide (i.e. an extended version of a blog post) and charge you a few hundred or thousands of dollars.

Dating is super nuanced and personal. No one two men we’ve coached have had the same exact experience. Sure we provide students with a dating blueprint and an online curicullum that covers every topic under the sun but we realize that’s not enough to address every wrinkle in their dating lives.

Coaches MUST offer direct coaching by way of a live session.

Students are bound to have questions that necessitate personalized answers.

5) Hire A Coach Who Has What You Want

I always found it odd that my middle school gym teacher looked like he hadn’t run a lap himself in a decade.

There was something about how unathletic he was that made me not trust a damn word he said.

Wouldn’t you find it odd if you hired a trainer who was a string bean or went to a dentist with rotting teeth?

If a dating coach can’t coach themself to find a happy relationship why should you trust them to coach you into a happy relationship of your own?

6) Check Third Party Reviews

Why would a dating coach post an unflattering review on their own site?

They wouldn’t.

That’s why you can’t trust dating coach reviews on their own website until you’ve read reviews on Google and Yelp.

On third-party websites you’ll find reviews far more reliable than any you’ll find on a coach’s website.

It’s on their website they can pick and choose the most flattering reviews. This isn’t the case with Google and Yelp.

Just be aware that even fake reviews can be posted on third-party websites.

7) Are They Recognizable in the Industry?

Before hiring a dating coach, make sure they are recognizable by associations within in the industry.

Ask For A Student’s Information

If you still don’t know what to believe, ask for a student’s contact information and reach out.

Of course the dating coach will choose a student that will put them in a positive light, but drilling a student with questions is still an effective way to learn more about the program. Students have little incentive to lie and thus will give you the whole truth.

Ask about teaching methodologies, philosophy, results they’ve had, if they receive adequate facetime with the coach, and any other points of interest.

Talk To A Coach

Maybe you’re feeling a coach but still aren’t 100% sold.

After chatting with a student the next logical step would be to reach out to the coach.

Get to know the person who will be your personal Cupid for the foreseeable future. See if you two vibe and be sure to pepper them with plenty of questions.

If coaches don’t offer the chance to chat prior to enrolling, that’s a red flag. How can you be expected to dish out thousands of dollars and place your love life in their hands if you don’t know — if you haven’t even had a conversation with them?
