What Is Tinder Passport?

Tinder Passport is a paid Tinder feature that enables users to change their location so that they might swipe through singles from anywhere in the world.

With Tinder Passport you’re able to swipe in Paris, Brussels, Milan, Mexico City, Buenos Aires, etc.

You name the city and Tinder Passport will take you there.

While Tinder Passport was free for all users during the early stages of the pandemic, it’s not anymore.

To gain access to Passport you’ll have to sign up for Tinder Plus, Tinder Gold, or Tinder Platinum.

To be clear, you can only be in one city at a time. That being said you can change your location as many times as you’d like. Getting bored of New Orleans, no worries, switch it up and head over to Jacksonville.

Keep in mind that depending on your subscription and preferences, users may be able to see how far away you are. You will have the option of hiding your distance based on your subscription and preferences.

How To Use Tinder Passport

Once you’ve subscribed, enabling Tinder Passport is pretty straightforward.

Simply click on your profile’s graphic, open settings, scroll down and click location, and change the location to whichever city you must desire to swipe in.

Why Use Tinder Passport?

What benefit is there in changing your Tinder location?

It can be tempting to virtually jet-set around the globe but if you have no real intention of every going to these places, you’re just wasting your time.

Look, Tinder is to be used as a dating app, not as an app for romantic window shopping.

With this goal in mind let’s dive into the reasons one might use Tinder Passport.

Tinder Passport For Vacation

The average length of a vacation that an American goes on lasts just four days.

If you’re hoping to get lucky romantically, four days doesn’t allow you much time to meet a woman and woo her.

If you really want to have success you’ll have to put in work ahead of time.

That’s where Tinder Passport comes into play.

Let’s say you’re vacationing from San Francisco to LA next month and you’d like to go on a date or two while down there.

Your thought behind this is that you don’t know the city well or anyone down there, so you might as well make a romantic acquaintance that you can have a good time with. And by good time I don’t necessarily mean sex. Having a good time could simply be getting a drink or two at a bar that only LA locals know, going dancing, or simply enjoying a stimulating conversation.

You could try to meet women once you’re already in the city. But why not extend the time available to meet a female by starting the task before even arriving?

Let’s imagine you live in a rural area or just aren’t satisfied with the women you’re meeting locally.

With Tinder, you have two options.

You can either simply expand your discovery preferences, or you can use Tinder Passport.

If you opt for the former you’ll merely be casting a wider net. Remember that with the free version of Tinder you’re able to expand your discovery preferences to 100 miles. While this means you can swipe through women many towns away it also means that your search isn’t localized.

With Tinder Passport on the other hand you’re able to pinpoint the exact location you want to swipe in.

Let’s say you live in rural Maine, and really want to meet a woman that lives in Portland, Maine. Instead of simply expanding your preferences to include women in Portland and a host of other tiny towns, you can choose to swipe through women that only live in Portland.

When using Tinder Passport in this way, be prepared to travel dozens of miles to meet with women you match with.

The Downfall Of Tinder Passport

Here’s the thing about Tinder and most dating apps.

While we think they’re chiefly used to find love, often that isn’t the case.

When nearly 10,000 millennial college students were surveyed in 2017, LendEDU found that when asked, “why do you use Tinder?” a whopping 44% answered, for confidence-boosting reasons.

Under 30% of users reported using the app for romantic reasons.

The study also found that 71% of users have never used the app to meet up with someone in person.

That’s pretty mind-blowing stuff.

In reality, most Tinder users swipe through the app not for a date Friday night, but for gratification.

Why this is so pertinent to Tinder Passport is that singles become even less likely to meet up with someone they’ve matched with the further away they are.

Before paying for a subscription, get real with yourself. Ask yourself if you’re serious about meeting up with women you’ve matched with. Are you using this app for a quick pick-me-up or because you honestly really want to improve your dating life?
