46 Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys

July 28, 2022

A third of Americans ages 18-44 have used dating apps.

Despite being widely disliked, dating apps still stalk single men and women around like an ex-lover in need of a restraining order.

Hate or love them, dating sites and apps are home to more single women than every college campus in the USA combined.

So you have two options. One is to go the way of the luddite and eschew dating apps in favor of meeting women IRL. Or you suck it up and join the party being attended by more single females of age than are located in the entire state of California.

Now that I have your attention, it’s time to begin.

Just because there are a ton of singles females using dating apps, it doesn’t necessarily mean your odds of finding a mate are high.

Because while men are more than generous when it comes to who they swipe right on, women tend to be a bit pickier. This is because men far outnumber women on dating apps. This scarcity grants women the ability to be a bit more choosy when it comes to who they swipe right on.

According to one study, the most attractive 78% of women only swiped right on the top 20% of men. That means that if you’re not an 8/10 on the attractive scale, it’s likely that you won’t be notching many matches. That is of course unless you know how to create a quality profile.

We’ll show you everything you need to know about creating an amazing dating profile in our Dating Decoded program. You’ll learn which photos to choose, how to take amazing photos, swiping strategy, and much more. But before you enroll let’s give you a taste of what’s to come by examining what makes the following profiles so swippable.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys

Dating apps are all about constructing an image that the female users find more favorable than competing profiles.

This means giving a damn about your bio as well as photos. To help you construct a profile that’s worthy of a swipe right we’re going to show you 38 of the best dating profile examples for guys.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys #1: Fantasize Together

Women want to know where you’re going. Dating a dude that’s going nowhere may have been nice during high school, but now that the women around you are all grown up they’ll want to invest in a man that has his life figured out. This profile is brilliant because it allows the reader to bask in the fantasy of the user. Who would oppose to retiring in 8 years, raising Ivy League children, and marrying their best friend? Even if you don’t have your life completely figured out, a fantasy profile such as this one gives her a sense of who you are as well as where you’re going.

#2: Shows Character While Making You LOL

I know exactly who his guy is. He doesn’t write a litany of things of traits trying to convince me of who he is. Instead, he illustrates his character by penning a little scenario in which he’s the hero that saves the spider instead of the villain that kills it with a flip-flop. As your 11th grade English teacher always used to say, “show, don’t tell.”

#3: Brief And To The Point

No woman wants to spend time trying to figure a guy’s profile out. They don’t want to read ambiguous relationship goals, rather they prefer someone like Eric. Eric tells it to me straight. He doesn’t have kids, has never married, and is looking for a serious relationship. That’s all valuable information that a woman wants to know before a first date. But he doesn’t just talk about his relationship goals, he also tells the reader about his hobbies. He’s clearly trying to attract a certain type of woman.

#4: Bold & Creative

This is a bold profile. Sure it’s humorous, but it’s also a bit weird. I mean the guy calls markets himself as a “cybernetic companion.” He is only able to pull it off because of the humor. Creativity is what you need to stand out. Just don’t stand out as the creepy guy.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys #5: Brief

Her swipe finger is on fire. The average women logs onto Tinder about 11 times a day spending 8.5 minutes per session swiping for Mr. Right. She isn’t leisurely swiping during these sessions. Like the screen-addicted single woman she is, she’s not wasting time reading through profiles that have bios longer than a paragraph. Sure this male user didn’t put a ton of effort into writing his profile. However, he does write just enough to attract the attention of the average female swiper.

#6: Don’t State the Obvious

You be the judge. Would you imagine this profile to rack up the likes, or be tossed aside like a multitude of other pedestrian profiles? It can be tough to tell, but if you examine each sentence individually you’ll see that this bio is just collage of sappy romantic cliches. Sure if she sees this just after having read any Nicholas Sparks novel she may go for it, everyone else with vehemently run to the bathroom, barf, and then swipe left.

#7: The Curveball

Each dating profile calls for a dash of surprise. In the profile above, that surprise presents itself in the form of opium smoking. The first two nouns describing himself are underwhelming, but just when you think this profile won’t be worth reading you see the words, “opium smoker.” The profile works because it’s got a balance of surprise and banality. Just be sure that you never come across as a heavy drug user.

#8: He Lives IRL

Most matches stay matches. Rarely do two people that have matched on a dating app ever meet up IRL. This person clearly wants to buck that trend. From his profile, we glean that he’s adventurous and wants that adventure to include the reader. Allow your reader to fantasize about future events with you. Who doesn’t want to take a spontaneous trip around the world or hike an epic mountain?

#9: Balance & Humor

The perfect profile is akin to the one you just read. It uses pithy humor to showcase who the man user is. When you’re competing against literally thousands of other men, you can’t afford to write a boring dating profile. Stand apart by demonstrating who you are with wit.

Best Dating Profile Examples for Guys #10: Acknowledges The Game

This profile would’ve been kind of lame had that first line not been included. This elevator pitch makes the reader stick around. She can spare less than 10 seconds to read a profile. A profile shouldn’t be an essay. A bio must be nothing more than a joking boast or two and an illustration of who you are.

#11: Meh

I’ll give this guy credit, he gives me something to latch onto. If I’m anyone of the things he listed I may be interested and want to learn more. However, this will likely only be the case if he attached his IG. If you’re a writer, poet, and artist, why is it so hard for you to write a compelling profile? Would Henry Miller ever write a profile like this?

#12: Highlight Your Advantages

Let’s say you’re a 5’6 entrepreneur. One of those facts doesn’t deserve highlighting. I’m not suggesting you lie, but until you’re viewed as more than a virtual card that she can swipe into the abyss, only make known what’s great about you. Women love ambitious entrepreneurs. And after getting to know who you are, she’ll probably love short dudes too.

#13: Direct

This is the perfect dating profile example of a man that doesn’t want to waste the female user’s time. By letting it be known he’s a father and man of faith he’s broadcasting to a certain audience. The net he’s thrown is specifically designed to catch only certain users.

#14: Unabashed Personality

This guy isn’t afraid to show his true colors. The issue is that those colors resemble those found in the toilet the morning after you’ve wolfed down chicken wings dipped in devil sauce. Look, this profile will work for some women, but very few. Most women aren’t into guys that wear sweatpants to the bar. They also don’t want to date someone that’ll put them behind two dogs in the pecking order. He’s obviously segmenting his audience, which can be a good thing when MegaDating.

#15: Hilarious -Yes, I’m Laughing At You

When I read this profile I picture a personal trainer that’s simultaneously yelling motivational cliches while trying to score my number. It’s jarring. That first line starts off so well, but then he shifts up the tone by yelling at me. Also hot tip for guys, never use exclamation points at work or when talking to females you don’t know. We read it as an angry man yelling at us. That’s not how you get my number.

#16: The Tinder X-mas Tree

This is what I like to call a x-mas tree. It’s ornamented with tons of sparkling trinkets that are meant to catch your attention. If you don’t like Aretha Franklin, maybe you’ll be attracted to Smashing Pumpkins or Napoleon Dynamite. While it helps identify similarities, a mutual admiration for Hemingway is shallow and doesn’t give me a solid indication of how compatible we really are.

Funny Dating Profile Examples for Guys

Funny Dating Profiles Example #17: A Genuine LOL

Listing out your likes and dislikes as if your profile were a shopping list is easy. Writing an original one-liner that makes me laugh is difficult. Wit is a sign of intelligence. Show her that you’re funny and smart, don’t list it. While brief, Derek’s profile is worthy of a swipe right.

#18: Playful Boasting

Dating applications are the perfect place to boast. Especially if those boasts are playful.

#19: Equilibrium

If the profile contained just those first two sentences it’d be humorous but not swipe worthy. The last sentence provides the necessary amount of upbeat shading that this profile needs in order to score some matches.

#20: Self-Depreciation

Self-deprecating humor works, but only if it’s balanced. Perhaps that balance comes from your photos or IG account. The point is that you can’t just joke about how you’re bad at everything. Self-deprecation can only come after she truly knows that you’re not in fact bad at everything.

Funny Dating Profiles Example #21: Don’t Be Cliche

This is funny… for those that haven’t heard it before. Many men claim that a committee in their head voted them the best date. It’s almost as cliche as female users salivating over tacos. Avoid cliches or be ready to receive fewer matches.

#22: Concise, Funny, Revealing

One line about the man’s profession and another about his fears. It’s direct and playful -the female user doesn’t have time for anything else.

#23: Make Fun Of Dating

We all know how absurd modern dating is. We post our romantic resumes online and peruse them while on the toilet. This user makes fun of modern dating and gets a laugh out of you by the end of it. The process of dating is awkward, don’t be embarrassed to acknowledge it.

#24: Put Words In Her Mouth

Quoting her feelings about you is ballsy, just don’t be too cocky about the quote.

#25: Drive-By Lover

A brief and funny dating profile example for guys. All women want to do is chuckle, thanks Chuck.

Funny Dating Profiles Example for Guys #26: Accelerated Bonding

Accelerate a bond by talking about your future life together. Just make sure it’s a happy fantasy.

#27: Personality Shines Through

Let your personality shine through. That’s the point of a dating profile. We don’t need to know everything about you, only that you’re worth swiping right on.

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys #28: Animals Always Win

It’s proven that pictures with animals get more likes than the average photo on Hinge.

If photos with animals get liked, double your odds of a match by talking about them too.

#29: Entertain Us

Peter sounds more like a dude I’d like to kick it with than a buddy, but at any rate this profile persuades me to give him a chance and meet him IRL.

#30: Foodie

Everyone’s a foodie nowadays. It seems like there are now more shows on Netflix about foods than sitcoms -how did that happen? At any rate, food jokes (and food confessions) are not en vogue.

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys #31: LMAO

For once I wish someone would write a dating bio worth reading to the end. Oh look at that, wish granted.

#32: Flaunt Your Good Side

Hey man, women like tall dudes, that’s just a fact. Don’t suppress your most appealing aspects, flaunt them.

#33: Twist And Turns

The profile starts off cheesy with the use of a cliche. But then the user goes on to remix various romance cliches. Well done, sir, women will appreciate the curveball.

#34: Shared Interests

This guy’s casting a wide net. Coffee drinkers far and wide will consider swiping right based on just this one shared commonality.

#35: What A Gentleman

Talk about a man that will take a bullet for you.

Witty Dating Profile Examples for Guys #36: I’m Lost And Don’t Want To Be Found

Of course, we don’t know how tall these men are, but it doesn’t matter. The association is a plus and the giggle was appreciated as well.

#37: Thanks For The Picture

Making fun of his masculinity shows this guy can take a joke.

#38: Talk About A Busty Man

This guy wrote his dating profile with his chest out. Inflated or not female users still want to swipe this guy, if anything just to find out which is the lie.

#40: Tell Her About Your Sunday

She wants specifics. As a complete stranger, she won’t agree to meet you IRL until she has at least an inkling of your personality. Show her who you are by providing specifics.

It can be easy to just list out a bunch of hobbies as this profile above almost does. But instead of a list we see these activities more so in the light of a story. Each line connects with the one above creating a narrative rather than a litany of things.

#41: Weed Out Women That Aren’t Ready For You

Don’t waste your time trying to attract women that don’t want to date men with children.

Your children will obviously be the priority. You won’t throw them in a corner to make way for some stranger from Bumble. Let it be known you’re a proud father. This will weed away incompatibles and attract those that are ready for a serious relationship with a father.

#42: Flex Those Fatherly References

Be topical and throw in plenty of fatherly references.

Be proud that you’re a divorced father in his 40s. If you’re going to put yourself out there you might as well do so in style.

#43: Show Off

Don’t hide who you really are.

You’re old enough to know who you are and to be comfortable with your obscure likes and dislikes. Don’t waste your time trying to attract a woman that isn’t interested in what gets you jazzed.

#44: Nicholas Sparks Himself Would Swoon

Awww.

Just because you’re pursuing older women doesn’t mean they’re not into sappy lines.

#45: Finally A Man That Doesn’t Play Games…

Stand out from the rest by putting a twist on stale cliches. So many men write the same platitudes in their profiles. This user switches things up by injecting a little wit into a cliche dating app line.

#46: Seems Like You Two Have A Lot In Common

A high-quality dating app profile for an older man is funny, makes their interests known, and is direct.

Far too many men are window shopping on dating apps.

Women have taken note.

They yearn for a direct man that wants to take them on a real date.

Be that man.

Dating Profile Photo Tips for Guys

A dating profile is important, but it’s not complete without a solid lineup of photos. When choosing your roster of photos here are some things you’ll want to keep in mind.

  • The first photo should always be of just yourself. Save the group shots for later. Don’t wear glasses or hats and keep your shirt on (yes even if you have a six-pack).
  • Puppy picks kill. A Hinge study found that pictures that included animals were much more likely to be liked than the average Hinge photo.
  • Be sporty. Women like dudes that play sports. I’m not talking about ping-pong, but contact sports like soccer and rugby.
  • If your buddy is better looking than you, don’t use the photo.
  • Display at least one photo of yourself traveling abroad.
  • Demonstrate who you are. Everyone uses the same types of pictures. Spice things up by posting pictures that reveal your true character.
  • NO SELFIES!
