If only we could review our dates the same way we review restaurants on Google.

We’d rank them by stars, snap some photos, and then leave a brief comment.

But seeing as how there’s still some distance between Black Mirror and reality, we’re not yet ready for this radically transparent idea.

However, there is an alternative. 

One of Bumble’s most beloved prompts gives our friends a space to review us (at least in theory).

The “A review by a friend” Bumble prompts is one of the most used prompts offered by the feminist version of Tinder. 

Sure our friends don’t actually review us and no there aren’t any stars involved, but it’s still a prompt you should take full advantage of.

Of all Bumble’s 38 prompts, this is the cheekiest. It gives you the power to really express your personality and say the damndest things all behind the guise of a review by a friend.

But what does a quality “A review by a friend” Bumble answer look like?

Here are 10 responses to help you out when creating your very own response.

A Review By A Friend Bumble Prompt

The following responses are all original.

This means you can steal, alter, or just get inspired by the following answers.

If you like the tone, wording, or style of the incoming prompt responses, simply edit them to your liking.

And remember that these are prompts you’ll want to answer yourself. Sure, ask your friends how they’d review you for inspiration, but ultimately these are words that should be tapped out of your own fingertips.

1) The Gentle Mock

Online daters take themselves way too seriously.

Serious people don’t get matches. The easiest way to attract someone to your profile is to show them your playful nature. Realize that apps like Bumble have gamified the online dating process.

Actually asking a friend to give you an in-depth 200-word review of your best and worst qualities isn’t what she wants to read.

She just wants you to show enough character to convince her to swipe right.

This prompt response has the perfect balance of wit, faux self-deprecation, and humor.

2) Be Specific

The prior prompt response told the reader that the user is funny and attended university at Michigan.

This Bumble prompt response takes a different approach.

It seeks to give the reader as much info as possible.

It informs them that the male user:

• Is versatile in his interests
• Watches soccer
• Loves Broadway
• Enjoys getting out of the house
• Digs a solid board game (Scrabble in particular)
• Is down to earth (doesn’t use bombastic words, e.g. bombastic)

The only way she’ll go out with you is if she has an inkling of who you are.

She doesn’t need to flip through your diary and learn your darkest secrets. But she does want to find a similarity or two and be able to imagine what dating you might look like.

Give this to her by listing a few of your hobbies and habits.

3) Listicle

Bumble only gives you so many characters to work with.

You’re not able to eloquently express everything that’s awesome about you.

Sometimes a list will have to do.

The thing is, most lists are dull.

A successful list will throw in a couple of curveballs, be colorful, and will ideally make her laugh.

That chuckle is most easily produced by making a joke at the end as evidenced in the prompt above.

4) Paint Her A Picture

You my friend are a stranger.

A damn good-looking, smart, and charming stranger, but still a complete unknown. 

Pull back the curtain by giving her an inside look at who you are, what makes you tick, and why she should take a chance on you.

What Makes A Good Bumble Prompt Response

Have you noticed a pattern yet?

There are two ingredients that make for a quality prompt response.

Details and wit. 

Our research indicates that about 75% of men send “hey” or hey variants as their opening dating app message. If they put that much effort into conversing with a match, imagine how much they put into creating an awesome dating profile?

Sure most upload half-decent photos but most can’t be bothered to write a thought-out response to a prompt.

Instead, they either refuse to fill them out or provide perfunctory responses.

You have a golden opportunity to stand out. 

When writing your bio and answering prompts, write various drafts.

Take your time to create something she’ll notice. Which to be honest shouldn’t be too difficult considering the vapid profiles other guys are creating.

5) Show Her Who You Are

Look not every woman’s going to want to swipe right on a guy whose passion for indoor gardens and historical dramas rivals her mother.

But that’s a good thing.

Imagine if every woman on Bumble swiped right on your profile?

That’d be horrible.

Sure you’d have an abundance of options but chances are 99% of the dates would be with women that you’re not compatible with. By talking about your true self you’re making a strong connection with women that share similarities and repelling those that don’t.

Never be afraid to broadcast who you are. It’s the quickest way to find compatible women.

6) The Mistake

Again, don’t take online dating too seriously.

Every woman that reads this will know this is no error.

The friend, or Steve, or whoever knows this is a review for Steve.

But it doesn’t matter that everyone’s in on the gag.

What matters is that this is unique. Stand out by providing an error review such as this one. Say something about an imaginary product that also applies to the profile.

7) A Classic Reference

Maybe you’re a little lazy or struggling for inspiration.

If that’s the case, fine.

Rely on quotes and references to write a badass “a review by a friend” prompt response.

Here we see Napolean Dynamite being referenced. To be fair, if she doesn’t understand the reference she may not swipe right. But that might be fine. Perhaps you want to target women that understand this obscure reference. Maybe you’ve found you’re super compatible with women that understand these types of references.

8) Now That’s A Friend

Of course, it’s not true.

Or maybe it is.

Either way it’s funny.

You might also notice this is a pretty humble brag. That’s perfectly fine. You can certainly boast about yourself under the guise of a friend doing so. However, this may backfire.

It might make you look like the kind of braggadocious person that brags about how much money he has and uses words like, well, braggadocious.

Be careful with your flexes.

When in doubt be humble.

9) Sounds About Right

Of all the prompts we’ve viewed thus far this one sounds the most authentic.

Look, if you’ve got a friend handy why not ask them to write you a review. Even if you don’t use it you’ll be inspired by what they write. Edit and rearrange their comments to make your prompt one that will convince her to swipe right.

I love the specificity of this prompt.

It really gives the reader an intimate impression of who you are.

10) LOL

When in doubt make her spit out her kombucha through her nose.

This kind of answer to Bumble’s “a review by a friend” prompt does just that for you.

If you don’t know what kind of answer would make someone laugh, ask around.

Write a few answers and take a poll. Ask your friends which is the funniest and which one they’d be most likely to swipe right on.

How To A Review By a Friend To Your Profile

Let’s cover that now.

First open Bumble.

Bumble will open to the swiping portion of the app.

When that happens go to settings.

You can do so by clicking the grey human icon on the bottom left of the app.

Once clicked you’ll see the screen below.

From here click on your profile picture.

Once clicked a massive yellow edit profile button will appear at the bottom of the screen – click it.

Then scroll down to your profile prompts, click the one you want to change, and find the appropriate prompt.
