Are Matchmakers Worth It?

Are matchmakers worth it? You’re probably asking yourself this question because Tinder just isn’t working like it used to. Let’s start with some history.

Matchmakers have been ever since Eliezer found Abraham’s son, Isaac, a wife.

The OG matchmaker hung out by a well all day waiting for someone to offer his camels some water. After quite a while of baking in the sun, finally, good ol’ Rebekah fetched Eliezer and his camels some water.

The matchmaking process has sped up quite a bit since antiquity.

Singles today want so much more than a woman who will offer his camels water when they’re thirsty.

Today, single men want compatible women who live close by, earn similar salaries, go rock climbing, and also love French Bulldogs.

Guys are sick and tired of waiting around for a woman who satisfies this criteria to pop up on their Tinder.

Men look to matchmakers because they’re tired of being lonely and want to expedite the process of finding a girlfriend. Guys may turn to a matchmaker for any reason.

But… Are Matchmakers Worth It?

That depends.

Some are, and some aren’t. There are a number of factors ranging from cost and services provided that determine if a matchmaker is worth it or not.

The kind of matchmaker who spends all day standing by a well are rightly not worth the price tag. However, the kind of matchmaker that deploys a team of e-recruiters to comb through single, compatible women in your hometown might be.

Let me help you discern which matchmakers are worth it and which ones should be left by the well.

So… are matchmakers worth it?

How Matchmakers Work

Here is how 97% of matchmakers work.

First, they get to know who you are. They’ll sit you down and learn about your dating goals, history, and, most importantly, preferences.

Then it’s time for them to start finding you eligible women to date.

Here is the issue.

It’s true that matchmakers will put in the work of fishing for you; the issue is that they’re casting their rods into a rather shallow pool. When you go to a bar or use dating apps you’re exposed to a revolving door of women. That’s not the case with matchmakers. These second-rate Cupids will only connect you with someone from their database. Now don’t get me wrong, databases can be extensive, but they will never come close to representing the variety of the single women who live in your area.

What this leads to is you being set up on dates with women you’re not compatible with. And it’s not like you’ll continue to be set up until you find your perfect partner. Before signing up with a matchmaker be sure to read the fine print. Many matchmakers will only promise a limited number of dates. Others will promise a certain number of dates within a specified timeframe. Whatever the case, the fine print will never read that they must be compatible or if they are not to y0u’re liking, they are not counted towards the promised number of dates.

Even if you are set up with six women in six months, all of whom you have zero attraction towards, you’ll still be charged thousands of dollars.

There is horror story after horror story of singles that have been disappointed by matchmakers. Many, like Anne Majerik were disappointed to the point that they sued their matchmaker and won $2.1 million dollars after she paid $125,000 to a matchmaker in LA.

Dating Coach Instead of a Matchmaker

I’ll admit that a matchmaker sounds nice (until you learn most of them don’t work). It must be nice kicking back as someone else finds lovely ladies for you to date. But what happens when your 6 month membership expires and you still haven’t met your wife? What happens is that you’ll probably be asked to cough up another $20k to go on a handful more of dates.

The math doesn’t add up.

What if instead of letting someone catch subpar fish for you, you could do it yourself?

That’s what a dating coach does for you. They give you the skills you need to meet women on your own.

If you’re complaining that you haven’t met a woman in years and that there’s no way you could meet women without the help of a matchmaker, I’d like you to meet Naeem.
