No one knows the source, no one knows how many women were polled, no one has any idea if it’s legit or not. What we do know however is that everyone seems to have an opinion about it.
So for that reason, I’d like to share mine and discuss the least attractive hobbies for men according to women, myself, and the women that I’ve coached through the years.
The Least Attractive Hobbies For Men According to Women
Before we start dumping on one of your favorite hobbies, let’s apply some common sense here.
For one, there are women in the world that enjoy these hobbies. If your passion is taxidermy and you meet a woman who shares your love of taxidermy, you, my friend, just met your soulmate.
Some women will find the following hobbies gross, while others will love them, share these hobbies with their man, or couldn’t care less that their man enjoys these hobbies.
Secondly, I want to say that more so than the hobby itself, what may most annoy a woman is how time-consuming a hobby can be. Let’s take video games which is number one on this list.
A man playing video games conjures up the image of a loser in his Mom’s basement playing video games ten hours a day. Sure, women don’t like that. But do women really care if a guy spends a few hours a week playing video games? Probably not. Not to mention, lots of women like video games too! Sure we might not be super into Call of Duty, but we’re down for Mario Cart or Candy Crush anytime.
Women tend to also love guys who play sports, but if he spends all his waking hours playing and watching sports, she’ll soon resent him for it.
It’s all about balance.
So for the sake of this article let’s imagine that all the hobbies we’ll discuss are not wholly time-consuming. If that’s the case, here are the hobbies that women in general will find the least attractive.
Note: We try not to discuss niche hobbies as they’re niche and chances are only a handful of guys have them.
Crypto
If you’re thinking, what, how in the world is crypto a hobby – then pat yourself on the back for not being one of those guys.
If you don’t know that kind of guy I’m talking about he’s the one who attends crypto conferences, insists on getting paid in Bitcoin instead of USD, and is always proselytizing non-crypto users.
Dude, no one cares that Bitcoin went up 5% in the last 24 hours, new flash it’ll also probably go down 5% in the next 24 hours, it’s a cryptocurrency, that’s what it does.
Online Bidding
Whether it’s on eBay or looking for a deal on Facebook Marketplace to buy things you know you’ll never need, trust me she doesn’t want to hear about it.
This often isn’t a healthy hobby. It’s time-consuming, can develop into an addiction, and is largely a large waste of money. If I’m talking about you, it’s time you found a healthier way to spend your time.
It’s also the beginning of a theme. You’ll begin to notice that the hobbies women find the least attractive are the ones that don’t involve intimately interacting with other people. Just about all the hobbies listed above do not involve interacting with another human face to face. If you want a hobby that will turn her on, choose a social one, one that perhaps you two can even share.
Collecting Toys/Figurines/Bobbleheads
I’ll admit, it’s a bit odd to walk into a man’s house and see collectibles sprinkled all over his home.
I totally get having a thing for sports or comics but collecting hundreds of literally anything is a little odd.
Smoking
Call it a hobby, habit, or lifestyle; whatever the case may be, we’re not into it.
Seeing as only about 11% of adults in the US are smokers, that means the vast majority of us don’t want to be anywhere near smoke.
A smoker puts himself and those around him in danger, not only this, but smokers freakin’ smell. I don’t care if you’re only vaping, this is arguably worse for your health and those around you as vapers toke both in and outdoors.
If there’s one hobby on this list that you should kick, it’s this one.
Sports Gambling
Going to the casino too often is a major turn-off, but I’d like to talk about sports gambling as it is all the rage nowadays.
Sports gambling has proliferating in the past few years as its not at least partially legal in 40 states. This rise has led to a surge in online gambling, particularly among young men. While this is all fun and games for some, for others is an addictive habit.
This is just another instance of a solitary hobby that will sooner rather than later lead to money loss.
Here’s a safe bet, ditch the gambling and I guarantee she’ll be more into you.
Watching Sports All the Time
Women don’t mind a man who loves sports, in fact many of us like it. A guy who grew up with sports probably has decent social skills, values working as a team, and probably has a close-knit group of friends.
What bothers us is a guy who feels the need to go out to bars to watch sports almost every day of the week. Again, doing this once a week is fine, but a guy who needs to watch football all day every Sunday in addition to NBA during the week, and UCL on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, it can be a bit tiring.
Many men do this and as such women feel resigned to their fate of either going with their partners to bars or giving them space to live vicariously through their sports teams. The thing is, those of us who don’t care for sports, really don’t find this behavior very attractive.
A guy who loves sports is just a guy. For most women, binge-watching sports isn’t going to make you magically more attractive.
The Most Attractive Hobbies For Men According to Women
Now we know what women aren’t into, let’s talk about what hobbies they do want the guy they date to have.
Again, keep in mind that she’ll find this hobby attractive if it’s performed for only a few hours every week. If it’s all-consuming it doesn’t matter how cool the hobby is, she’ll begin to resent your preference for it over everything else.
General Exercise
Women love a fit guy.
So whether you play sports with friends, workout, or are an avid runner, she’s attracted to you because you probably look good, care about your health, and if you play sports, have a community that supports you and molds you into a stand-up guy.
Not to mention she too probably shares this hobby and as such you two may go for a jog together, join a volleyball club, or hit the gym together a couple times a week. Any hobby you two can partake in together is one she’ll be attracted to.
Playing an Instrument
Every woman wants to be serenaded.
If you’re in a band, are learning the piano, or compose music for fun, then you’re only a few chords away from making her swoon.
Cooking
Every woman is a foodie nowadays.
If you can cook your woman an exquisite meal, she’s yours.
Traveling
Are you the type of guy who loves to go to new places, try new things, and learn about new cultures?
Read any woman’s Bumble profile and you’ll see that this is exactly the kind of man she’s looking for.
Learning New Things
Are you the type of person who is always getting into something new? If you have five side-projects, are easily passionate about things, and are always learning something new, then here’s something you probably knew already, women love this.
Volunteering/Political Causes
A man who is passionate about fixing the world is hot.
A guy who gives back or has causes that he vehemently supports will win any woman’s affection (so long as she has similar beliefs).
Even if you do all the hobbies women love there’s no guarantee she’ll be into you.
