Let me start by defending this post.

Recently we started a series that examines dating in some of the most vibrant cities in the states.

Today, as the title would suggest, we’re changing things up — but why?

Well, it’s rather unfair to compare the likes of LA, NYC, or Chicago to a place like Stamford or Norwalk. As stand-alone cities they lack the population, entertainment value, and general dynamism of some of the nation’s largest cities.

To justify including any area of CT in our series we had to expand things. There is no single city in Connecticut that can compare to a metropolis like NYC, however, there is a county.

Fairfield County is comprised of about 940,000 residents. Compared with the likes of NYC (8.4 million) FC is rather small. And if for a second you’re thinking woah woah woah, there’s no sense in talking about dating in Fairfield County because it’s unreasonable to think that someone in Greenwich would ever trek across the county to date someone in Sherman (yes, Sherman is in fact a part of FC).

I’d counter by saying that Sherman is about one hour from Greenwich. This is the absolute longest distance relationship that can take place in FC. That’s the same amount of time you’d spend if you dated someone that lives on the Upper East Side while you live in Bed-Stuy. It’d take even longer if you lived in Brooklyn and dated someone on the Upper West Side, Harlem, the Bronx, or god forbid… Staten Island.

But hey, just because it’s cozier than NYC or LA doesn’t necessarily mean it’s easier to date here. That is after all why you’re reading this article in search of a Fairfield County dating coach. To understand FC better, we’ll chop it up into two regions, east, and west.

In the most western part of FC you have Greenwich, Stamford, Darien, New Canaan, and Norwalk. On the opposite side, there’s Shelton, Stratford, Munroe, Easton, Trumbull, and Bridgeport.

If you’re a single guy, you’re going to want to stick to the west.

In particular because of Stamford and Norwalk. It’s these two cities that have been booming and going vertical for the past 5 years or so. As ‘bedroom communities’ of NYC, there are hordes of people living in these cities that commute to NYC. As such they are much more populous than other cities in the area, have quick access to NYC, and are home to a wealth of like-minded yuppies.

Practically whole new neighborhoods like the Harbor Point, South End, and Waterside in Stamford are little yuppie-havens full of new housing developments and vibrant nightlife scenes.

Norwalk too has just made way to a host of new high-end housing complexes in places like SONO and Avalon.

It’s these two places that you’ll want to keep on your radar when considering moving to the area.

Oh and if you can’t decide on which city to live in, know that the cites are located just 15-30 minutes (depending on traffic) from each other. If you don’t feel like driving you can always hop on the MTA train.

First, Second, And Third Dates Ideas In Fairfield County

The first three dates each have rules attached to them that should be abided by — that is, if you’re following emlovz’s MegaDating blueprint.

Skip on over to the Norwalk area for cheap yet delicious seafood at Overton’s Seafood. Snack your no-fuss seafood while enjoying views of The Sound. Just around the corner from Overton’s is Harbor Harvest. Harbor only offers farm to table food, but that’s not why you should hit it up. Every Monday during the summer is trivia night. Trivia is typically low-key, an eclectic assortment of craft beers are on offer, and you’ll be able to enjoy the breeze of The Sound as you kick it in their outdoor garden area. If you’re a Greenwich resident — or have access to a Greenwich license — you can always hit up Toad’s Point, clearly the nicest beach area in the county. I kid you not I think they import their sand from Cancun. Other quality beaches in the area include Silver Sands, Sherwood Island, and Jennings Beach.

Second dates should be free and get the heart pumping. Take a brief jaunt around the Minaus River Gorge just north of Stamford, scramble up Breakneck Ridge for some killer views, or take a casual stroll through Sleeping Giant State Park in Hamden. Considering most of FC is on or near the water, kayaking, paddle boarding, and sailing are all options if you have the right equipment. There are also free yoga classes aplenty for those chilly days where outdoor activities might not be an option.

A third date is when you can splash the cash and really show her that you’re into her.

There are only a dozen ways to do this in the FC area. You can go see a concert in NYC, New Haven, Port Chester, or Fairfield. If you want to keep things local hit up Prime in Stamford, little beet table on Greenwich Ave., or The Cottage in Westport.
